George has been walking the New Jersey Appalachian Trail since 1982, sharing its history, landscapes, flora, and fauna with generations of students and fellow hikers. He has completed a 27-year section hike of the Appalachian Trail, as well as two end-to-end backpacks of Vermont’s Long Trail.
